Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  The computer I want to use this software on is not internet capable.  Can I copy the software that I receive from your email to my other computer?

A: Yes.  You can copy it to any other computer that you own.

Q: Can I use my CAB-1L or CAB-2 remote at the same time as your software?

A: Yes.  They will not interfere with each other.  It would be the same as if you were using two remotes.

Q: Can you playback more than one scenario at a time?

A: No, but you can control as many engines as you want within a given scenario.

Q: Do you have any means of feedback into the application?

A: Yes & No.  You can record scenarios from any remote (CAB-1, CAB-1L, CAB-2).  Also, if you are using the LCS SER2 it will echo the commands back so you can record scenarios from eTrain Command Console (L).  Also, you can display all data from the LCS SensorTrak™.  Not just what the CAB-2 shows you.

Q: How much "drift" is to be expected when using scenarios?  Ex. Will the train consistently stop at each station in the same spot or will the stop position vary over time?

A: There is going to be a certain amount of drift.  There is even drift with the Lionel Action Recorder Controller (ARC).  I have found the amount of drift increases with the number commands in the scenario.

Q: Do you have any plans to offer an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch app?

A: No.  In order to develop an app for any iOS device you need a Mac, which I don’t have and don’t plan on purchasing.

Q: Will your software work with various Lionel TMCC controllers such as the Accessory Motor Controller (AMC), Accessory Switch Controller (ASC), Accessory Voltage Controller (AVC), Action Recorder Controller (ARC) and Block Power Controller (BPC)?

A: eTrain Command Console (TMCC only) Answer: They will work, but it will require additional wiring.  Normally, when you use this software you connect your computer directly to your command base’s DB-9 serial port.  Because of this you will no longer be able to connect your TMCC daisy chained controllers to your command base.  Therefore, you will need to split the serial output from your computer so your command base and daisy chained controllers can receive commands from the software.  This creates another issue.  You will no longer be able to control your daisy chained controllers from your CAB remote because they are no longer connected to your command base.  You will have to get even more creative with your wiring to overcome that issue.

A: eTrain Command Console (L) LEGACY Answer: Just hook up your daisy chained TMCC controllers to the SER2 Output and Common terminals.

Q: If I just have the Base 1-L and not the Legacy base, can I access all Legacy functionality with this software?

A: Yes.  However, you must have either the LCS SER2 or the LCS WiFi module.  The Base 1-L cannot receive Legacy commands directly through its DB-9 serial port.  They must go through either a LCS SER2 or a LCS WiFi module.
